Kiosk point-of-sale system

How we helped deliver on-site POS and kiosk software with touch-first UX, tariff and timing logic, hardware integration, and hybrid handling between local operation and cloud reporting.

  • Engagement Custom software delivery
  • Surface On-site kiosk and staff tooling
  • Focus Operational software, hardware integration, sync workflows

Overview

The system supports front-line staff with transaction flows that include vehicle lookup and external API calls where required, receipt and barcode or QR workflows, and shift reporting for accountability.

Challenge & goals

Kiosk software fails when touch targets are too small, tariff rules are opaque, or hardware errors strand customers mid-transaction. The goal was resilient day-to-day operation: clear tariffs, recoverable failures, and reporting that matches how sites actually reconcile at end of shift.

  • Touch-first flows sized for gloves, glare, and hurry
  • Tariff behaviour that staff can explain to customers
  • Continuity when connectivity is imperfect

Delivery approach

We prototyped around real transaction sequences, then hardened integration boundaries for printers and scanners and made sync paths explicit so support teams can reason about state.

Engineering highlights

Multi-tier tariff calculations, hardware integration patterns with clear failure messaging, and hybrid local/cloud data handling for continuity plus reporting visibility.

Outcomes

Smoother on-site throughput with fewer stuck transactions and clearer handover between kiosk usage and back-office reporting.

Frequently asked questions

Do you publish live performance metrics here?

No. This case study summarises delivery focus areas. Commercial metrics stay with the client.

Can Bees-X integrate hardware such as printers or scanners?

Yes, where device behaviour and failure modes can be specified. Share your hardware targets and on-site constraints via our contact page.

Does this system require constant connectivity?

The delivery included hybrid local and cloud handling so front-line operation can continue with sensible offline behaviour, then reconcile when connectivity returns.
